Change Management

Edutech specializes in assisting institutions of higher education with information technology, therefore, all of our projects have a fundamental change-management component to them. Specifically, projects having to do with new administrative information systems, or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, are all fundamentally about change throughout the institution. The providers of information technology services will be changing both the services and the way in which those services are provided. The users will be changing their relationship to their work and to information usage in general. Many people on campus, especially among the faculty, will be using an ERP for the first time. The changes brought about by this kind of initiative are both large and pervasive. 

The need for all of these changes to take place in a positive environment is critical, and creating that environment is the essence of change management. We have skilled and experienced change-management specialists on our consulting staff to deal with issues of team building, communications, institutional preparation for change, and consensus building.

We have had two projects involving change management with this institution. The first was to develop a change management plan for their new administrative information system and the second was to assist in a reorganization of the technology and student services areas to take advantage of new technology.

We worked with this institution on a combined business process reengineering and information technology project. The project had significant organizational, financial, and student-service implications, as well as being a first major step toward a restructuring of the institution’s technology environment.
